One day, a young girl named Helen Stoner came to Sherlock Holmes. She lived with her stepfather, Dr. Roylott on their estate in the country. Two years ago, the girl lost his sister Julia. Julia had died two weeks before her wedding under mysterious circumstances. Helen's sister told her that she had heard some whistling and banging. At night, she ran out of her room, crying "the speckled band" and fell dead. The cause of her death wasn't found out. Helen was going to marry and at night she heard whistling and banging too. She was very frightened that is why she turned to Sherlock Holmes for help. It turned out that Dr.Roylott was a murderer. He committed the crime because he didn't want his stepdaughters to get their mother's money. He brought a poisonous snake into the girls' rooms but in the end it was the snake's bite that killed him too. This story is written by a famous English writer Arthur Conan Doyl. I liked the tale "The Speckled Band" because the plot is very interesting, exciting and full of mysterious events. The author keeps readers in suspense till the end of the story and it is impossible to predict the upshot. In my opinion the most interesting and exciting turnaround of events is the moment of appearing a snake in the girl's room. I recommend everybody who is fond of detectives to read this story.
