In the past 50 years, the pace of development of scientific knowledge has greatly accelerated. Increased scientific research, science has become global., and received results faster come into our lives. People tend to believe that all the major scientific issues have been resolved. In fact, we stand on the threshold of new scientific discoveries that will lead humanity forward on the path of its development.
Scientific activity raises serious questions of moral character and challenges. Science is just knowledge. While knowledge can be used evil men to achieve evil goals. Science does not replace the judgment of morality. Such arguments should not stop scientific activity because it gives us the facts. Science increases our ability to do evil, because grow our technical capabilities. With the development of science, we need to be wiser, deeper analyze new opportunities to do good, not evil.
It is necessary that scientific discoveries were widely used in economic activities. We already hold the lead in such knowledge-intensive industries as pharmaceuticals, aerospace, biotechnology and optical electronics. However, the industries in which can be used by our world-class level, much more. In the Cambridge science Park and the surrounding areas, there is approximately 14,000 high-tech enterprises. Science parks and the laboratory of new companies have sprung up in many other universities in the UK.
Today the leadership in Europe belongs to the UK. If we manage to establish a relationship of trust between scientists and the public, then Britain will be able in the 21st century to become as powerful forge new ideas and enterprises that implement them, in the 19th and early 20th century.
