They Work so Airports Work!
When I was a child, like many little boys and girls, I wanted
to be a pilot. It was my dream to fly all round the world in a
big expensive plane. Well, I'm an adult now, and I'm not a
pilot — I'm a reporter — and today I'm writing about the
different interesting jobs there are in airports.
First, let's talk a bit more about pilots. Of course, they fly
the planes but they do a lot more than that. Pilots need to
like other people and they need to enjoy helping them and
talking to them.
Then, there are the flight attendants. Can you imagine being
on a plane and there wasn't a flight attendant to help you?
You can't can you? A flight attendant is there to help you
during the flight. A good flight attendant gets the passengers
food or drinks and explains to them how to stay safe on the
plane.
Pilots and flight attendants have what I like to call'sky iobs!
But what about the people who have 'ground jobs'? Let's
look at an airport mechanic's job. A mechanic works on all
the different parts of the plane -- the engine, the body, the
wings -- and tells the pilot that the plane is fine to leave the
ground.
Security guards work on the ground too. They've got a
very important job at the airport. They look at passengers
passports to make sure they are who they say they are. They
also look very carefully at passengers' baggage they
use a scanner, so they can see what people have got in their
bags.
Airports need all of these people, so passengers are safe
when they fly from place to place. Pilots, flight attendants,
mechanics and security guards work so airports work!перевод
