Last year I went with my family to New York. We visited my parents' old friends. New York impressed me. Do you know that the Dutch made the city? They called it New Ansterdam.

I think the heart of New York is Broadway and it is the heart of American theatre industry. It got its name in the 18th century. The name Broadway was the English translation of the Dutch name. The street runs 15 miles (24km) through Manhattan and the Bronx. There are about 40 theatres there. We were lucky to get tickets and saw a wonderful musical "Mary Poppins".
