In September 1923 the Aktobe regional state archive was organized, the first documents of which date back to 1917. In 1929 the Aktyubinsk Regional Museum of History and Local Lore was established. In 1934 the Aktyubinsk Regional Russian Drama Theater was created, and in 1935 the Aktobe Oblast Kazakh Drama Theater was established on the basis of a dramatic circle of railway workers. The first bus in Aktyubinsk was launched in 1927 (see Aktyubinsk bus), and in 1982 the Aktobe trolley bus was launched. On March 10, 1932, Aktobe became the center of the newly formed Aktobe region of the Kazakh SSR
