Disney was the first to make an animated film with sound. It was called Steamboat Willie and starred Mickey and Minnie Mouse. The film was a great success. Disney also created such characters as Donald Duck, Goofy, and Pluto. His studio started to make full-length animated films including Snow White, Pinocchio, Fantasia, Dumbo, Bambi, Alice in Wonderland, and Peter Pan. Walt planned and built Disneyland, a huge amusement park with rides and entertainment based on his movies. The park opened near Los Angeles in 1955.
