We all love our homeland, because it is the country where we were born and raised, where our parents and friends live. But other countries can also subdue us with their originality and uniqueness. I have such a country. It's called Ireland. I have been dreaming to visit it for a long time. It is located in Northern Europe and occupies about five-sixths of the homonymous island. The capital of Ireland is called Dublin. It is a beautiful country with unique culture and many attractions. The population is not large, only 4.24 million people. The Irish are for their peculiar sense of humor, passionate temper and easy attitude to life.
Ireland is a green country. It’s beautiful nature conquered many hearts. There are a lot of green meadows and hills. It is rich with thick forests, clean rivers and lakes. The Irish are very concerned about the conservation of nature and wildlife. Also there are many castles and historic buildings in Ireland. Their medieval architecture amazes and fascinates. And of course I really want to try the national cuisine. The most popular is an Irish Breakfast and Irish stew.
I hope my dream soon will come true and I can see the beautiful Ireland with my own eyes.

The surface of the British Isles varies very much. The north of Scotland is mountainous and is called Highlands, while the south, which has beautiful valleys and plains, is called Lowlands. The north and west of England are mountainous, but all the rest - east, center and southeast - is a vast plain. Mountains are not very high. Ben Nevis is the highest mountain.
