Obtain-получать с определённых усилий,добывать.Это получение того,чего ждут, на что надеются.(Поэтому obtain не употребляется с чем-то неприятным.)
receive-получать пассивно, без специальных усилий получателя. Получать можно материальные вещи (письмо, деньги и т. д.) и абстрактные (новости, информацию, приказ и т. д.)Имеет более официальный, литературный оттенок.
gain-имеет смысловой оттенок, указывающий на старание или борьбу ради получения чего-либо и часто переводится "завоевать что-либо".
get-этот синоним может заменять obtain и receive в разговорном языке.Отличительная черта get- его употребление с отрицательными понятиями(получить удар, шок,нагоняй, рану и т. д.)
