Read the text and do the tasks
Most schools in England have a sports day once a year in spring or in summer. On that day schools have no lessons.
The children go to the playing fields. The competitors wear their sports clothes. Several events take place at the same time on the field. The children have the running race, high and long jumps. They play some sports too. The results are written on a large blackboard for all to see.
In the middle of the program there is a break for lunch. If the day is sunny the children sit on the grass and eat their sandwiches.
At the end of the day the captain of the winning team receives a prize. The winners of different events are congratulated.
The children enjoy their sports day in the open air.
