1. How often did you visit your cousins when you were in Singapore last year? 2. The filling station manager called the police when he realized that someone had driven off without paying for their petrol. 3. Eddy set fire to his kitchen last week when he was cooking his dinner. He has been sorting out the mess ever since. 4. I have not topped up my phone credit yet. How much do you think I need for a month? 5. What are you doing? – I am texting to my friend. 6. I am really sleepy this morning. I will have another coffee. 7. Next year she will have worked here for 5 years. 8. She is working on her research now. 9. They had already gone when the results were announced. Dear Ms Collins, I am writing to express my interest in secretarial position at CRS advertised in the Times last week. I am proficient at typing, and know how to use most word-processing packages. I enjoy working with people, know how to meet a challenge, and don’t mind working overtime. As you can see from the enclosed letters of reference, my previous employers considered me to be a skilled secretary. I would be pleased to further my career by working for a prestigious company like CRS. I look forward to hearing from you. Yours sincerely Caroline Sinclair.
Dear Mr.Harrison, James came back to school on Monday and my husband (ask) me to explain the situation to you. James has just recovered from his grippe, but the doctor told me yesterday to keep him home for a few more days to be on the safe side. We hope he has not missed anything important since the term began. We would like to ask you to watch over him for a while and not to let him take part in games or gymnastics for a week until he is well again. James is so keen on games that he will try to play before he is fit enough unless someone keeps an eye on him. We have provided him with all the clothes on the list except the red athletics vests and the blue shorts. He has already grown out of last year's pair, but we only discovered this yesterday and the local shop did not have any in stock. I will send them by post as soon as I buy some. We were very happy that James took to boarding-school life so well last year and we trust he will continue to be happy this year. We both are very grateful to you for being so helpful last year and look forward to having another talk with you when we come to the parent-teacher meeting next month. Yours sincerely, K. Williams
