When my younger brother, Ibrahim, was a toddler, he used to call me dad (instead of Eyad) and we used to laugh about it. But as we grew up, 7 years apart, this joke started to become a reality. Ibrahim copied me in every possible way, and has an unshakable faith in me. For the longest time I considered him my best friend. I took care of him, taught him, and confided in him. I care about him so much that I don’t want to disappoint him. I know he is watching my every move, so I am watching my every move. I know he is copying every word I say, so I am careful with what I say. If I ignore my work, he ignores his and if I cut corners, he follows suit. I want to be proud of him so I need to be proud of me. Last summer, I asked my father if I could help around the office. He said he has “a project” for me. I had to scan some 1000 old charts into the new electronic system.
The art I admire the most of all is music! Music has been with mankind since ancient times. It's interesting that scientists found out that music can influence
our brain, improve our memory and help us to feel less stress. I am a fan of rock music and so I'm very interested in its history.
Rock's origins date back to the late 1940s, when country music and blues transformed into a new sound with the help of electric guitars and a drumbeat. In 1950s and 1960s rock music was becoming more and more popular in the USA and the UK. Rock has a lot of different types: rock-n-roll, pop rock, hard rock, glam rock, punk rock, etc.
Though I'm a big fan of rock music of US and UK of 1960s-1980s, live concerts that I've been to were made by Russian rock bands: "Aria", "Agatha Christie", "Picnic" and others. I try to visit concerts of my favorite artists at least once a year or two. But my biggest dream still remains unfullfilled - I would love to visit a concert of Pink Floyd, my favorite band of all times. Everybody knows their album "The wall" which was one of the most commercially successful albums of all times. But I personally love "The Final Cut" - album dedicated to the memories of World War II and postwar dreams.
Another favorite band of mine is Queen. I know all their works, I've read a lot of books about this great band, especially I love the bestseller "We are the Champions" by Laura Jackson. When I was a student, the walls of my room in the university campus were pasted over with pictures of Freddie Mercury. Show must go on!
