Countable and uncountable nouns
Most nouns are countable. They have singular and plural forms.
mornings - mornings
village - villages
Some nouns are uncountable. They don't have a plural form
coffee, money, furniture
We use a with singular countable nouns, or an when the noun
starts with a vowel.
a coffee morning
a cake

  I’m very fond of reading. Especially I like to read detective stories and historical novels. That’s why I prefer books by Conan Doyle. Arthur Conan Doyle is particulary known as the creator of Sherlock Holmes. His stories such as “The Sign of the Four”, “The Empty House” and many other are known all over the world. He was born in 1859 in Edinburgh. Perhaps the most curious thing in his biography is that he wasn’t a writer all the time. Arthur qualified as a doctor and worked as an eye specialist. Only in 1891 he became a full time writer.
  I like his short stories about Sherlock Holmes and I have read all of them. My favourite story is “The Speckled Band”  In addition I would like to tell that Conan Doyle also wrote plays, memoirs and historical novels. In my opinion he is one of the leading masters of the detective genre.

                            A Magic Island

Once I had a dream about a beautiful island somewhere in the Pacific Ocean. It was a magic island. There were a lot of wonders there. In the centre of the island there was a high mountain covered with trees and shrubs. The mountain was home to colourful dragons. Around the mountain there was a large forest with lots of other unusual anumals. I saw tiny elephants with wings that could fly like bees, a pair of loveliest unicorns drinking crystal clear water from the forest brook, and big rainbow-coloured birds sitting in the trees. I liked this island very much!

                        Волшебный остров

Однажды мне приснился красивый остров где-то в Тихом океане. Это был волшебный остров. Там было много чудес. В центре острова была высокая гора, покрытая деревьями и кустарниками. На горе жили разноцветные драконы. Вокруг горы был большой лес с множеством других необычных животных. Я видел крошечных слонов с крыльями, которые могли летать, как пчелы, пару прекрасных единорогов, пьющих кристально чистую воду из лесного ручья, и больших радужных птиц, сидящих на деревьях. Мне очень понравился этот остров!
