Many people think that it is enough to know one language, but scientists think it is too little. The world is constantly changing, borders between countries and states is opening, and each of us can visit any country we like. This is one of the arguments in favour of studying foreign languages. In addition, the study of languages develops your attention and memory, broadens your mind, and you feel more educated. I don't think I am a good language learner because I am lazy and I don't like English very much. Of course, it is really great to find out about English people. cities and events. At our lessons we read interesting books, translate from English intо Russian, learn new words. We speak about interesting people. I understand that English teaches me to think, to speak, it helps me to find friends, but learning English is very difficult for me and takes me so much time. Our English teacher is very good and kind. But it is awful for me to learn English poems and songs by heart, of course, I try but it is waste of time I think. I know that English won't help me in my future profession
I'm fond of reading. Usually I borrow books from the library, but I have a lot of them at home, too. I like to read books about famous people and detective stories. Literature means much in my life. It helps to form the character and to understand life better.
There are some names in Russian and Foreign literature that are very dear to me.
In Russian literature I highly appreciate Ivan Sergiyovych Turgenev. For me he is a real intellectual and aristocrat, a man of culture, devoted to literature, music and art. Though he lived abroad for a long time he didn't stop to be a Russian writer-for a moment. He created a number of national characters in his books. The image of Turgenev s woman, deeply feeling, faithful and tender is an ideal of a Russian woman for me. It doesn't lose its charm even today.
