One day everyone has to choose a career. In my opinion, this is one of the seminal moments in life because it will influence your future significantly. Let us take a closer look and further investigate what are advantages and disadvantages of a scientific career.
On the one hand, this activity is very exciting. You communicate with the cleverest people of your time, attend conferences and read to a lot to keep up with the time. Your brain works all the time trying to solve all the mysteries and riddles of the nature and the world. And one day you will probably make a discovery that will improve people’s lives or cure cancer.
On the other hand, being a scientist can’t be so exciting. For example, it can be boring. Imagine a small laboratory with a lot of dull and boring people who don’t like their job and don’t invent and discover anything. Or this work can be dangerous. Scientists often work with poisonous substances and as a result of an accident they may suffer.
To sum up, I suppose that many things have to be taken into account. There are pros and cons and I think that if am offered a scientific career, I will consider this particular case very thoroughly and only then I will make my decision.
A scientific career is attractive to me because I am interested in science at all. I want to be connected with biomedical science. To my mind, people who specialize in this field require years of intense study and expertise, so they are paid very well when they finally get a job. A biomedical scientist is someone who analyzes various blood and tissue samples of the human body with the help of advanced lab equipment, and then passes on the results to a doctor who then suggests a suitable course of remedy for a patient. It is a very useful profession. It is an indispensable job, and I am sure of its necessity.
