III. Use Past Simple/ Past Continuous/ Past Perfect
1) She (work) as a nurse in 1998.
2) Who (watch) TV when Dad (come) in?
3) They (be) sure we (finish) our work by ten.
4) When I (open) the door, the lesson (begin) and the teacher (explain) the rule.
5) While I (cook), she (listen) to music.​

Самостоятельная часть речи, либо (в зависимости от точки зрения) особая форма глагола, которая обладает свойствами как глагола, так и имени прилагательного. Обозначает признак предмета по действию и отвечает на вопросы какой?, каков?, что делающий?, что делавший?, что сделавший? Глагольные признаки причастия — это категория вида, залога, а также особенная предикативная форма времени. Адъективными (связанными с именем прилагательным) признаками причастия являются категории рода, числа и падежа возможность образования кратких форм у страдательных причастий, синтаксическая функция согласованного определения. Кроме того, причастия склонны переходить в прилагательные.

What are they eating now? are eating - present continuous - to eat
They usually go to the river for a swim.  - go - present simple - to go
He spent last summer in the country. - spent - past simple - to spend
Will you go to the south next summer? - will go - future simple - to go
I was going to the cinema at four o'clock yesterday. - was going - past continuous - to go
My mother likes to read books. - likes - present simple - to like
Have you ever spent your holidays in the Crimea? - have spent - present perfect - to spend
He will be writing a letter at 5 o'clock tomorrow. - will be writing - future continuous - to write
I shall have done my work by seven o'clock tomorrow. - shall have done - future perfect - to do 
She had drawn this picture by 7 o'clock yesterday. - had drawn - past perfect - to draw
