Black bears are medium-sized, but can kill
a person. A lot of people are frightened of
them. But Lynn says they never hurt him or his
assistants. He gives all the bears names. In this
photo, Lynn is in the forest with Duffy, an adult
male. Male bears live alone.

Female bears live with their cubs, in a
den. When Lynn approaches a den he says
"It's me, bear, it's me.' When the bears see him,
they say a bear 'hello'. It's incredible! With
Lynn's work we can learn about bear habits. He
says people and bears can live together in the
modern world.
