Peter the First was born on the 30th of May 1672 not far from Moscow. He got the education at home. From early age he was very fond of sciences. He liked to learn foreign languages. He knew German, English and French languages perfectly. He had a strong health and his memory was very good. Also, he liked to learn different crafts, such as joinery, turnery, blacksmith craft. He "opened the window in Europe", made people in Russia to study from foreigners, to learn their sciences and crafts, such as ship building. Peter I ruled the Tsardom of Russia and later the Russian Empire from 7 May until his death, jointly ruling before 1696 with his half-brother.
