Crocodiles or crocs are talked about a lot in Australia. Usually they are separated into two types: saltwater crocs and freshwater crocs. Saltwater crocs are known as ‘salties’ and freshwater crocs are called ‘freshies’. Salties, which can be five meters long, are considered much more dangerous than freshies. Swimmers who are caught by a saltie, are rolled around in the water until their necks are broken. Then the swimmer’s body is stored under some wood by the croc until it is soft enough for him to chew. Freshies are much smaller and swimming with them is thought to be safe but a little scary.
