Life without trees. Is it possible?
Have you ever thought why we need trees? I’m sure you have never. Without trees there is no life on the Earth. They regulate the temperature and give shade to houses, office and industrial buildings and streets. Trees make the air cleaner to breathe, that is why we feel refreshing coolness near the trees. Trees are integral part of our ecosystem including all living organisms. Trees are one of the oldest inhabitants living on the Earth. They appeared on the Earth long before the first people.
Trees also provide shade necessary for keeping animals from the heat outdoors. Forests are home to different animals and birds. Most animals live in the forests and birds build their nests on the trees, it is their natural environment, their home. If only people don’t stop cutting down trees in the forest, the animals will have no space to leave. Some animals go to the road to look for food. It threatens humans as well as for animals themselves.
In addition, trees prevent the Earth from flooding and soil erosion. Tree roots hold the soil together, making it stronger and more solid. So, the coast becomes more stable.
Unfortunately, the number of trees in the world is becoming less and less nowadays. According to scientists’ research there are just over three trillion trees on Earth. The influence humans now have on the number of trees on the Earth is clear from the study. The team estimates we are cutting about 15 billion a year, with perhaps only five billion being planted back.
As a rule, people plant trees as a compensation for ecological damage. Humans shouldn’t plant trees without planning. Researchers from the Natural Capital Committee (NCC) warn that mass tree planting could harm the environment if it is not planned properly. Badly-planned trees would increase greenhouse gas emission released by industrial products . One NCC member, Prof Ian Bateman from the University of Exeter, said: ‘the right tree in the right place’.
Anyway, humans should do their best not to do any harm nature. All of us should know that trees provide life to all living beings. Trees should be taken care of.
