Kirov Avenue is the main street of Pyatigorsk, created in the form of a wide and long-length alley, along which there are places for entertainment and recreation. The historical name of the avenue is Tsarskaya Street, which changed its name to Romanovsky Prospekt before the revolution in honor of the 300th anniversary of the Romanov family. After that, its name was Svobody Avenue, Sovetsky Avenue, and in 1952 it was renamed Kirov Avenue. The avenue originates from the building of the Academic Gallery, and ends in the area of the railway station, where a monument to S.M. Kirov is installed. Most of the avenue along its entire length is in the shade of deciduous trees, providing coolness on hot summer days.
