Most people need friends because friends make them feel better. Friends know us well and are ready to make things easier or better for us. Friendship can help us to survive in hard times.
I am lucky to have a few friends. They are the boys who live in my neighbourhood. But my best friend is a classmate of mine, his name is Alex. I met him two years ago when he came to our school after his family had come to live in our city. It turned out that we liked watching the same films and listening to the same music. We both like to play football after school. We also help each other to do our homework. Alex helps me with languages and I help him with mathematics.
There are a few things that I value in my friend. These are his kindness (I know Alex is always ready to help me), his sense of humour and honesty (Alex knows me so well that he is able to see things that I can’t, and he isn't afraid to tell me the truth).
