The new restaurant, Bailey’s, in Park Road is a great success. It opened last month and is now the most popular restaurant in Thornton town centre. It’s smaller than the others and it’s definitely more expensive, but the food is delicious. It’s easy to get to because it’s near the bus station and the main car park in town.
The owner, chef Mike Bailey, worked in a big London hotel before he started the restaurant and he learned to cook from some of the best chefs in the world. He thinks the most important thing is to have fresh food – everything on his menu is fresh. He buys his meat and vegetables from local farms and the fish is from the River Thorn. Believe me – it’s all delicious!
My favourite dish on the menu is the roast chicken. It’s a traditional meal but the vegetables are beautifully cooked and it comes with a special sauce. I loved the desserts. For me, the best dessert is the chocolate cake with home-made ice cream. For people on a diet, it’s not a good idea to go to Bailey’s!
The restaurant is also well designed and decorated. You can see directly into the kitchen and watch the young chefs at work. They cook quickly, but everything is always perfect. The smells from the kitchen are wonderful and they make you very hungry! The service is also very good and quick.
Bailey’s is always busier than the other restaurants in town. Try it soon, but remember to book in advance. And don’t eat anything before you go!

Music in our life i love music, i think people can not live without it. the first thing i do in the morning i switch on my tape — recorder. we can hear music everywhere: in the streets, in the shops, on tv, over the radio, in the cars, in the parks, everywhere. i think it's really doesn't matter what kind of music you prefer: rock, pop, classical, jazz. a lot of people are fond of music. they buy tapes, go to the concerts, visit concert halls and opera theatres. i enjoy listening music because it reflects my moods and emotions. very often when i'm blue, i play my favourite merry songs and feel much better. sometimes i attend music halls and the concerts, when popular groups and singers are there. i like watching music programs on tv. i like to know more and more about popular talented groups and singers i like. one wall of my room is covered with posters of "bon jovi", "scorpions", "roxette", russian singers agutin, sjutkin, linda and others. some people go to musics schools, they play different musical instruments, sing in the chorus, try to compose music. unfortunately there are so many ungifted singers on the stages, that it makes me sad. to have a good producer doesn't mean to have good ears and voice. i think that only talented people can claim to be singers. музыка в нашей жизни я люблю музыку, и мне кажется, что люди не могут жить без нее. первое, что я делаю утром — это включаю магнитофон. мы можем слышать музыку повсюду: на улицах, в магазинах, по телевизору и радио, в машинах, парках — везде. я думаю, что не имеет никакого значения, какую музыку вы предпочитаете: рок, поп, классическую, джаз. многим людям нравится музыка. они покупают кассеты, ходят на концерты, посещают филармонии и оперные театры. мне нравится слушать музыку, потому что она отражает мои настроения и эмоции. часто, когда мне грустно, я включаю свои любимые веселые песни и чувствую себя намного лучше. иногда я посещаю концертные залы, когда мои любимые группы или исполнители там выступают. мне нравится смотреть музыкальные передачи по телевизору. мне нравится узнавать больше и больше о популярных талантливых группах и исполнителях, которые мне нравятся. одна стена в моей комнате оклеена плакатами "бон джови", "скорпионз", "роксет". плакатами с изображением российских исполнителей агутина, сюткина, линды. некоторые ходят в музыкальные школы. они играют на различных музыкальных инструментах, поют в хоре, пытаются сочинять музыку. к сожалению, на нашей эстраде сейчас так много бездарных исполнителей, что меня это огорчает. иметь хорошего продюсера — еще не значит иметь хороший слух или голос. мне кажется, что только талантливые люди имеют право называться певцами.

What Is Antarctica Like?

Antarctica is the coldest place on Earth. The temperature in the winter is cold enough to freeze water all the time. The temperature in the middle of Antarctica is much colder than the temperature on the coasts.

Antarctica has two seasons: summer and winter. Earth is tilted in space and the direction of tilt never changes. During summer, Antarctica is on the side of Earth tilted toward the sun. It is always sunny. In winter, Antarctica is on the side of Earth tilted away from the sun. Then, the continent is always dark.

Antarctica is a desert. It does not rain or snow a lot there. When it snows, the snow does not melt and builds up over many years to make large, thick sheets of ice, called ice sheets. Antarctica is made up of lots of ice in the form of glaciers, ice shelves and icebergs.

Antarctica has no trees or bushes. The only plants that can live in a place that cold are moss and algae.

Who Lives in Antarctica?

Antarctica is too cold for people to live there for a long time. Scientists take turns going there to study the ice. Tourists visit Antarctica in the summers. The oceans around Antarctica are home to many types of whales. Antarctica is also home to seals and penguins.

What Can NASA Learn About Earth From Studying Antarctica?

NASA uses satellites to study Antarctica. NASA wants to know how Antarctica is changing. Scientists want to know what the changes in Earth's climate are doing to Antarctica's ice sheets. They also want to know what changes in Antarctica's ice might do to Earth's climate.

One tool that NASA uses is ICESat. That stands for the Ice, Cloud and land Elevation Satellite. Using ICESat, NASA can measure changes in the size of Antarctica's ice sheets. ICESat also helps NASA understand how changing polar ice may affect the rest of the planet. Melting ice sheets in Antarctica may change sea levels all over the world.

NASA instruments have also helped scientists create detailed maps of Antarctica. The maps help researchers when planning trips to Antarctica. They also give people a clearer view of the continent.

What Can NASA Learn About Space From Studying Antarctica?

Antarctica is a good place to find meteorites, or rocks that fall from space to Earth. Scientists find more meteorites in Antarctica than any other place in the world. Meteorites are easier to see on the white ice. Also, meteorites that fall to Antarctica are protected by the ice for a long time.

NASA sends teams to Antarctica to learn more about the planet Mars. Antarctica and Mars have a lot in common. Both places are cold. Both places are dry like a desert. NASA tested robots in Antarctica that later landed on Mars.

NASA also goes to Antarctica to study astronaut nutrition. Like people that are in Antarctica in the winter, astronauts in space are not in the sunlight. The sun helps the human body make vitamins. Scientists study people that visit Antarctica to learn how to help astronauts in space get enough vitamins.
