Read the Text “A True Story’’ On the morning of 26th December, the sun was shining and a warm breeze was blowing on Phi Don Island in Thailand. After breakfast we went to the beach. My parents and I ran straight into the crystal clean water. Nothing was going to happen.
Suddenly I heard a loud roar. The water under my feet disappeared. I heard people screaming and pointing at the sea. “What’s going on?” I was wondering as I turned to see a massive wave coming to me. “Mark run!”, I heard my mum shout before a huge wave swallowed me. I was under the water. I was trying to breath and reach the surface but the force of the water just pushed me down. Then, out of nowhere a hand grabbed me and pushed me up. I breathe the air and looked around. I was in a palm tree with a Thai man. I could see people in the distance running in panic.
I felt like crying. But I was too shocked to do even that. The only thing I could do was to sit and watch, unable to move. The hours passed slowly. Suddenly, the Thai man started shouting and pointing to a helicopter. The pilot saw us and came to rescue us. Half an hour later, we were safe in the hills. There were a lot of people there. I felt lonely and lost when I heard my mum’s voice say “Mark, you’re safe!”. I don’t remember feeling more relieved in my life than at that moment. Two days later we left the island. We felt luckily to be alive. But we were sorry the locals who lost their homes. That was a terrible experience.

His journey home after the end of the war dragged on for ten years due to Poseidon's anger and various misadventures; during the voyage, Odysseus encountered the man-eating cyclops Polyphemus, the sorceress Kirka, who turned travelers into pigs, walked between the monsters Skilla and Charybdis, was able to hear the songs of the sirens and not die, descend to Hades and return to the world of the living. He spent seven years homesick on the paradise island of Calypso, until, thanks to the intervention of the gods, he was unable to continue his journey. Having made a short stop in the land of the Phaeacs, Odysseus returned to his homeland, where his faithful wife Penelope and son Telemachus were waiting for him. He interrupted the violent suitors of Penelope, and then went into exile in Epirus. According to one version of the myth, Odysseus died on Ithaca at the hands of his own son Telegon. According to other versions, he died a natural death in Epirus or Aetolia, or died in Etruria.
