Elets is a city (since 1146 [4]) in Russia, the administrative center of Eletsk district of the Lipetsk region. It is a city of regional subordination [5], within the boundaries of which the municipal formation of the urban district of Yelets has been formed. [6] [7] It is located 78 km to the west of Lipetsk. It is located on the banks of the Bystraya Sosna river at the confluence of the Yelchik river into it.
