Technology We live in a world of technology and modern gadgets. People simply can’t
imagine their lives without mobile phones, computers, iPads and music players.
Various technological tools have become a part of our daily life.
The list of modern inventions can be endless. They have made people’s lives
easier. At the same time we became rather lazy. Before the end of the 20th century
housewives didn’t have dishwashers, microwaves, automatic washing machines,
vacuum-cleaners. Basically, they did everything by themselves. Today, almost all
the household chores are done with the help of computerized machines. If our
ancestors knew that we were going to live in the era of scientific advances, they
would probably be jealous.
From the other hand, there are certain disadvantages that technological
progress brought along. For example, human workers today retain less value,
because machines can do the work for 10 people or even more. Companies don’t
need to employ as many people as they used to. Many things are processed with
the help of ordinary computer. Another disadvantage is strong dependency on
technological novelties. When a personal computer crashes, people start feeling
helpless and unable to solve any life problems. Nearly everything today depends
on computers and on the Internet. The cost of some modern gadgets is also
something to consider. Manufacturers produce newer and newer models of mobile
phones, computers, laptops, etc. So, the prices almost never go down, instead they
grow higher. Most students can hardly afford to buy an innovative technological
toy.
Despite all the disadvantages, I’m convinced that gadgets are a necessary part
of our life, as they save people’s time and provide entertainment.
