George Washington was born on the 22nd of Februaryin 1732 in British colony of Virginia. As a child, he aws taught at home by private teachers. He was rather good in Math. He finished his education when he was 15. As a teenager he became a surveyor. His expeditions in Virginia allowed him to earn some money. As a result, in 1751 he travelled to Barbados. The year later, he became a militia commander of Virginia, however he had no militar education. In 1759 he married Martha Custis. From 1759 to 1774 he served in the Virginia House of Burgesses. During this time, he developed and increased his plantations and farms. By 1760 Great Britain rised taxes for American colonists. Because of that, the colonists decided that they need independence. So, George Washington was elected as a commander in chief of Continental Army. He was a better general than the strategists. He could motivate people to continue fighting and going even if they had lost several battles before or if they didn't have enough supplies like food, armours or clothes.  in october 1781 with the help of French army Washington's army could capture British troops under the General Charles Cornwallis, which finished Revolutionary War. George Washington was declared as a national hero. In 1783 peace was sighned between U.S. and Great Britain. So, Washington decided that he did everything he could, returned home to become a farmer. However, in 1787 he was called to attend the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia and head the committee to draft the new constitution. His impressive leadership there convinced the delegates that he was by far the most qualified man to become the nation's first president. Washington refused because he was tired and he wanted to return to quiet family life. But the opinion of the people was so strong that on 17 January in 1789 the first presidental election was held, where he won.The 57-year-old Washington was inaugurated on April 30, 1789 in New York because Washington DC wasn't built yet. He was a president for two terms but in 1796 he refused to stay for the third term. He retired and returned home. In December 1799 he got cold. Soon it developed and on the 14th December at the age of 67 he died.
