Back in the ' 70s appeared first gaming device for TVs. 75-m Atari released the first toy Pong (table tennis). At 76M sold them for about $200M. Somewhere in the 76-77 years there has been a sharp reduction in the cost of semiconductors. Atari released the Atari 2600 – the first device with replaceable cartridge. This allowed changing the cartridges to play different games. 77m in sales of the industry amounted to approximately $420M. The market pushed a lot of other players, and each had their consoles - devices and cartridges to them. An interesting fact is that 2/3 of sales were made during the holidays and weekends. Atari has successfully implemented the strategy of "Gillette" (give away all the razors and make money on the blades). They managed to sell more consoles than anyone else and eventually became the market leader. The main sales were through large retail network. It was about 1500 games under their platform. Victory was not long. In 82-84 years people stopped to buy consoles. The market is sated — all of whom had already bought. From the manufacturers warehouses and retail have accumulated a huge amount unsold as cartridges with games and consoles — had to sell at bargain prices.
