Transport in London
London, like other great capitals of Europe, has a complete transport system. More and more people begin to use buses, private
taxis, the underground, trains and bicycles. The system of transportation in London is good for tourists because they serve the
main sightseeing routes. So tourists can go and visit different attractions of London.
The London underground is the oldest in the world. Most of English people call it London Tube, this underground has 275
stations.
The most popular attraction in London is the famous red buses. They travel throughout the city from early morning till night.
They are slower than the underground trains, but it’s the best way to see the city. An important thing to know is that you
cannot buy the bus ticket inside buses, they are sold in every bus station in London and you can buy these before you take any
bus.
Besides the underground people can use classic old black cars. London taxis are as popular as red double-decker buses. In the
capital there are around 23 000 taxis. Taxis drivers know each places and corners of London because they take an
exam. Taking a taxi in London is so expensive if you want travel alone.
Cycling is good for health and environment. In the parks and streets there are a lot of cycling paths. It’s also an excellent way
to see the city as there aren’t any problems with parking and traffic,

Robin Hood (1 - is) apparently a fourteenth-century English hero. People of that time (2 - sang) songs about his adventures, although the most famous stories (3 - came) from the sixteenth century and later. In the 20th century a TV series and several films (4 - helped) to continue the legend.   Robin Hood (5 - was) a rebel and in many ways a criminal but he (6 - was) a people's hero. The legend (7 - said) that he (8 - lived) in the forest with his companions, his "merry men". They (9 - robbed) and (10 - killed) representatives of authority in order to give the money to the poor. His main enemy (11 - was) the Sheriff of Nottingham, but he also (12 - stole) from the reach landowners and members of the church.   Historical "detectives" (13 - tried) to find evidence for a real Robin Hood with little success. There (14 - was) an outlaw of that name, but we (15 – don't know) much about him. What is certain (16 - is) that for people of that period and later times, Robin Hood (17 — was) a symbol of justice. New stories about him (18 - appeared) through the centuries, and he (19 - became) a legendary figure.
