Born on January 1, 1972 in the Zhambyl region of the Kazakh SSR. He started boxing at the age of 13. Trained with G. F. Rozhkov.
Two-time champion of Asia (Tashkent, 1995; Tashkent, 1999), world champion among military personnel (Rome, 1995), gold medalist of the XIII Asian Games in Bangkok (1998) and XXVII Summer Olympic Games in Sydney (2000). Silver medalist of two world championships (Budapest, 1997; Houston, 1999); bronze medalist of the XXVI Summer Olympic Games in Atlanta (1996). Winner of the bronze medal at the World Cup in Zhengding (1998) and the title of "Best boxer in Asia 1999".
Yermakhan carried the flag of Kazakhstan twice at the Summer Olympics (1996 and 2000).
From 2002 to 2004 - head coach of the national boxing team.
Awarded with the Barys Order, 1st degree (2000).
State Youth Prize "Daryn" (2000).
Jubilee medal "25 years of independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan" (2016)
