programme. I really hope to be a geologist in the future, so for me Kazakhstan is a great 1)………… as a lot of the industry there is based on the extraction of natural resources. That makes it a great place to learn more about geology as a field of 2)……. , as well as make potentially valuable contacts for the future. It’s an amazing opportunity, totally different from anything I can do here in London, so I’m going to make the most of it!

I might be in for a culture shock. I’m really excited to study in one of the most glamorous cities in the world, but I tend to be shy and nervous in new situations. I’ve always wanted to be an architect, so when I finish school, my
plan is to study architecture in Florence, Italy. I’m a huge fan of Renaissance
architecture, in particular the way it used older roman arches and columns in
combination with newer techniques. Florence was the obvious choice
because it’s where Filippo Brunelleschi first created the style in the early 15th
century. I’m going to tour the whole city, learning as much as I can by studying
the work of the old masters. After I earn my bachelor’s degree, I hope to be ableto get a(n) 7)………… at a local architecture firm and be exposed to the working 8)………………………
It was a day in early autumn. The weather was nice. It was sunny and warm. Colin, a twelve-year-old boy, got up early. His dog Alf was sitting near his bed. Colin knew that the dog wanted to go walking. He didn’t wash or eat. He only dressed himself and went out. He took his dog to the park. In the park the dog stopped near the tree. There was something under the tree. It was a small kitten. It was very small. It was white but very dirty. COLIN TOOK THE KITTEN HOME. They washed the kitten. They gave it some milk. His mother liked it. She said, "You are a good boy" Colin. This kitten will be your birthday present for me. They decided to call it Snow. His mother liked to say: “It dropped from the skies”.
