Fyodor Dostoevsky in the story “White Nights” shows how the main characters relate to their city. The dreamer, as a romantic hero, is very captivated by the St. Petersburg spring. He sees in her something special, very touching and inexplicable. Most likely, the author, using a description of the spring nature of St. Petersburg, shows the dreamer's hopes for a change for the better in his life, for awakening from his fantastic dreams.  

The dreamer likes the city. Wandering around St. Petersburg, he draws attention to those little things that not every person notices.

He likes houses, in his imagination they can speak. The hero mentally communicates with them. Here is a house repainted, and he complained to our hero that he did not like this paint. Our hero believes that lonely dreamers live in the back streets of Peter.
