Russian literature is not only the panoramic, doorstopping 'War and Peace' or the long existentialist tribulations of 'Crime and Punishment.' I want ti present a list of shorter works that create a no less vivid impression on the reader.

Объяснение:

One of the famous story is “Mumu” which is written by Ivan Turgenev. Although slavery was abolished in the U.S. in 1863, and in Russia in 1861, there are still slaves in today’s world. This is the story of Gerasim, a deaf, mute janitor, and the cruel Moscow landlady (said to be based on Turgenev’s mother) who takes pleasure in mocking him and other serfs. Schoolchildren have been shedding tears over Gerasim’s miserable fate for more than half a century.

Another one is “The Shot”. This story is famous among all adults and elderly people. It was written by Alexander Pushkin in 1830. Pushkin was the founder of literary poetry during the Golden era of poetry in Russia. Almost all people in the world, no matter what ages they are or what gender they are, know one of the greater poet Alexander Pushkin. After reading this tale, you will forever stop offending others without good reason. After all, payback time will come one day – and at the happiest moment of your life when you are least prepared. This is the story of former officer Silvio, who lives in a small town and harbors some kind of secret. Plus he’s an excellent shot. It turns out that the past few years of his life have been spent solely in anticipation of an unfinished duel. Incidentally, the story is from the collection Tales of Belkin, and we recommend reading every one of them – they are all exquisite.

My favorite short and classic stories is Master and Man and Other Stories, by Leo Tolstoy. With this story we jump forward to the 1880s. As well as the great novels, Tolstoy also wrote some very fine short stories. Many people would regard The Death of Ivan Ilych or Hadji Murad as his best short prose work, or maybe even Strider, an extraordinary tale narrated by a horse. I am very fond of this story though, because it is charming, the moral is worn lightly and I know what it meant to Tolstoy. This story appeared in a children’s journal in 1881. It was Tolstoy’s first piece of published fiction after Anna Karenina, which he had finished four years earlier. The main character in Tolstoy’s story is an angel, Mikhail, punished by God for refusing to take a woman’s life. Mikhail is sent to earth to discover what men live by. A humble peasant shoemaker takes pity on the naked man he stumbles across, slumped up against a chapel wall one cold autumn afternoon, and brings him home. After Mikhail has worked for a while as a cobbler and discovered that men live by love, he springs new wings and is allowed to return to heaven.
