People often have fears. I have a fear of spiders. I have been afraid of them since my childhood. When I was four or five years old, my parents took me to the forest. There I was having fun running and playing with my dad until I ran right into a large spider web. As I was putting away the sticky web from my face, I saw a huge grey spider and that was the moment when I gave a loud shriek. It was the scariest day in my life.
I do not think my fear can be called arachnophobia, because I can't say I have its typical symptoms, such as dizziness, trembling and sweating, chest pain or nausea. Scientists say that a phobia can interfere with normal activities — I don't think it is my case. But I do feel bad and awfully scared when I see a spider. I may even scream sometimes if the spider is big. I find all spiders disgusting and I know that some of spiders are dangerous.
The worst part about having a fear is that when people find out that I am afraid of spiders, they make fun of me. They think it will be hilarious to catch a spider and leave it on my desk. I think it's cruel.
