Sergei Korolev is considered to be "Father of the space programme". He is a world-famous rocket engineer and designer, born in 1907.He graduated from the Kiev Polytechnic Institute, and the Bauman Moscow Higher Technica School, the Moscow Pilot School and got the Pilot Certificate.He is well-known for having directed the design, construction, testing and launching such legendary spacecrafts as Vostok, Voskhod and Soyuz. In 1934 he published his book called "A rocket flight in the stratosphere", then prepeared and took part in the launch of the first Eart satellite. He also prepared the first manned flight ever which took place on the 12th of April, 1961. Korolev did a lot for preparing the "Voskhod-2" spacecraft when Leonov made the first space walk in history.He was awarded with many prizes and he remained a dedicated and hard-working person untel his death in 1966. When he died, the space era of the Soviet space explorers ended.
