Without a doubt, the most important thing in man is her soul. It is she that is the true essence of man, is her own. At all times, especially in present-day people, they usually pay attention primarily to the appearance of a person, to its posture, to manners. Of course, this is an important component and it often happens that the external beauty is internal.
So the ancient Greeks thought. Their philosophy and mythology argued that the soul and body of a person are one integral, inseparable from one another. But later, already in the Middle Ages, they realized that the soul was something completely different, that it was eternal and therefore more important than the body that was vulnerable and mortal. And so it is, in my opinion. We often can observe how beautiful the appearance can hide the black sting of the soul. With such a person it is unpleasant to communicate, no matter how attractive beauty she has been endowed with. The body is just a tool for the acts of the soul. Culture and art were created by people with a wonderful soul, and not all of them were beautiful externally. Culture itself proves to us the existence of the soul. Without her, we would be simply animals and could never have created or grasped something majestic. Our feelings and experiences are due to the soul. Without them, our lives would become gray, monotonous, and would have no meaning. Grigory Skovoroda, a prominent Ukrainian philosopher, wrote this way: "Not a body, but a soul is a man." In Christianity it is believed that man is created on the image and likeness of God. It's hard for us to understand what that means. I believe that just a soul is the part of the divinity that is present in us.
It is in every person, someone is better than something worse. But each of us can constantly enrich it, improve it. Spiritual values are in fact very important. I think that in our time they are underestimated. It is not enough to have a lot of material wealth, comfort and everything you want. At the same time, we will still feel unhappy, deprived. From this, the soul can be worn out, and it will almost certainly not be able to do good, truly unselfish deeds. Happiness can only be achieved when the soul is happy. We need to take care of our whole lives in order to stay happy.
