City people in the countryside. Part 2 Nurlan Serzhan, a bank worker, thought that moving out to the village would be a great idea and a life changing experience. He became so tired of city life that he decided to give up his job and move to a small village. Nurlan shares his experience in this way: “Here I can grow my own food and even keep some animals. And I can live on a very small amount of money now. I work remotely only when I want to. There is quite a good internet connection here, so I have access to my emails and some useful websites. I have nearly everything I need for a happy life.”
However, not everybody finds life in the countryside so positive. Young people mostly think that living in the countryside is boring and even depressing because there are no modern entertainment facilities. Access to schools and public transport can also be noted as negative aspects of living in the countryside. Currently Nurlan has to drive 20kilometers just to take his children to school. But what if you do not have a car? Does it mean that you would have to walkthere on foot?
Also, some native villagers do not like people who move from the city into their area. They think that people from the cities do not really understand the true spirit of the countryside. So, as Nurlan said, be prepared for a lot of advice and comments on how you should organize your life and what kind of vegetables to grow. “Mostly this advice may be very helpful but sometimes the people can be really annoying because they think that you are too stupid to do something on your own!”
