Valery Filippovich Borzov (October 20, 1949, Sambor, Lviv region, USSR, USSR) is an outstanding Soviet athlete-sprinter, two-time Olympic champion and prize-winner of the Olympic Games, state and public figure of Ukraine. President of the Athletics Federation of Ukraine [uk] (1996-2012), Member of the IOC (since 1994), Vice President and member of the Executive Committee of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine. Honored Master of Sports of the USSR (1970), Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences (1977). The first and only Soviet sportsman sprinter, who won Olympic gold at a distance of 100 and 200 meters.
