Также я не знаю всей ситуации, если они 2 недели находятся на дрейфующем в море корабле с мертвым капитаном, будет уместно именно Present Simple(потому что девушка скорее всего часто плачет, а не в данную момент и парня интересует вообще почему она начала ныть).Но если девушка "кремень", и очень сильная, то будет уместно именно Present Countinuous, потому что парень удивлен что она плачет в данный момент.
